Mustang Saribung pass trekking is a challenging trekking trail in mid western part of Nepal. It’s a breath taking scenery of three Himalayan  mountains, Dhaulagiri 8167m, Mt. Manaslu 8163m, Mt. Annapurna 8091m. All combined with different religions, geographic elevation, Tibetan monasteries, beautiful landscape and crossing the challenging passes.
Mustang Saribung trek includes three different trekking regions Annapurna, Mustang and Narphu valley. Saribung trekking was recently  discovered in 2006 in Nepal Himalayas. Saribung peak climbing to 6324m is another attraction of this trip. We Nord Extreme Himalaya arrange Saribung expedition as per travelers’ choice. Saribung trekking trail is situated in isolated part of Mustang region of Damodar Himal, close to the Tibetan border.
Mustang Saribung pass trekking commence at Jomsom after 25 minutes scenic mountain flight from Pokhara. Himalaya Journey Trekking guide will lead you through beautiful Kaligandaki valley Kagbeni Chele Geiling Lo Manthang  Yara Thanti Namta khola and finally summit the Saribung peak. The trail continues via Saribung pass at 6020m descending to Phu gaun  reaching Annapurna circuit trekking trail at koto then heading to the Beshishar and by bus or private vehicle drive back to Kathmandu.
Autumn and spring are the best times to trek in Mustang Saribung pass but Himalaya Journey Trekking arranges customized Saribung pass trekking as per trekker holiday schedule. Minimum two person required for Mustang Saribung trekking to obtain the Mustang and Narphu valley trekking permit through government registered trekking company in Nepal.  Saribung pass Narphu valley trekking is the most challenging adventure trekking in mid western Nepal.

Day-01: Arrival day in Kathmandu (1348m)

Pick up from airport and transfer to hotel, organize check in. Short briefing that afternoon followed by orientation walk. Overnight at hotel.

Day-02: Sightseeing day in Kathmandu Valley:

Around Kathmandu Valley: The holy place of Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath Stupa, Boudhanath Stupa & Kathmandu Durbar Square), arrange the necessary permit for Trekking and Climbing. Overnight at hotel.

Day-03: Kathmandu to Pokhara

With a morning wake up, your guide will pick up you and transfer to the tourist bus station and drive tourist bus 6 hours through the beautiful river view and Nepalese countryside to reach the Pokhara lakeside (823m/2,700ft) and transfer to the selected hotel and rest of the time explore the surrounding lakeside areas and stay overnight at hotel on b/b basis.

Day-04: Fly to Jomsom and trek to Kagbeni.

After an early breakfast transfer to the airport for a morning flight to Jomsom, a super scenic flight of 25 minutes brings you at Jomsom, the district headquarter of Mustang. This is a large town. It is also a major village on the Kaligandaki area linking the age old Trans-Himalayan Salt Trade route to Tibet. From Jomsom onwards it is very windy in the afternoon, the trek continues on the gradual path on the Kali Gandaki river bed for about 3 hours and finally reaching at Ekle-bhatti village. After good stop here an hour of easy walk reaches you to Kagbeni (2,858m/9,375ft), which lies at the bank of two rivers. Kagbeni, an interesting windswept villages situated on the main age old Trans Himalayan salt trade route to Tibet via Upper Mustang area. On arrival, check in the hotel with afternoon free for a stroll around the village. Stay there overnight at tent on FB basis.

Day-05: Trek from Kagbeni to Chele village

Our Trek starts with a special permit check up and onwards to the riverbank of Kaligandaki up stream. During the walk we have scenic picturesque place to stop through the sandy and windy trails. This trails follows the up and downhill. Firstly we will reach at Tangbe village with crops field. From here we trek forward to Chhusang after 1½ hour walk and crossing the river head up to the huge red chunk of conglomerate that has fallen from the cliff above, forming a tunnel through which the Kaligandaki follows. We head on to small ridges reach at Chele village (3050m/10,004ft) after 18 Kilometers( 5 hours walking) then stay there overnight at tent on FB basis.

Day-06: Trek from Chele to Syanmochen village

Today, we start our trek again and walk further to Eklo Bhatti. We will climbs to Taklam La Pass (3,624m/11,923 ft) through plateaus and narrow stretches with views of Tilicho Peak, Yakawa Kang, Nilgiri and Damodar Danda. Further descends a little to the village of Samar for our lunch. Further walk around 3 hrs similar walk will reach you at Syanbochen (3475m/11,398ft) after 6 hours walking (8 km.) then stay there overnight at tent on FB basis. Remaining time explore the surrounding area.

Day-07: Trek from Syanbochen to Ghemi

After breakfast we trek uphill to the Yamda La (3,850m /12,667ft) passing few teahouses, Chortens and local villages which is like Tibetan style of houses with open Varanda, and crosses over a few other passes. The longer climb will be to Nyi Pass (4,010m/13,193ft) after lunch, we descend to our overnight stop at Ghaymi (3520m/11,546ft) after 5/6 hours walking (12 km.). Then stay there overnight at tent on FB basis.

Day 08: Ghaymi to Charang village

We start trek after breakfast with a pleasant walk and easily get to the Charang (3500m/11,480ft) 6 hours walking for the overnight. After crossing Ghaymi Khola, the trail climbs to a plateau and passes beside a very long Mani wall (Secret stone wall of the Buddhism). From the end of the wall the trail heads east to Tsarang after 11 kilometers up and down then stay there overnight at tent on FB basis.

Day 09: Charang to Lo-Mangthang village

Today, we trek to Lo-Mangthang with a magnificent view of Nilgiri, Tilicho, Annapurna I and Bhrikuti peak. The trail first descends to Tsarang Chu Canyon and then climbs steeply after crossing the river. Further the trail ascends gently to the 3,850m windy pass of Lo, from where you can see the Lo-Mangthang Valley (3700m/12,136ft). While descending to Lo-Mangthang, views of the walled city appear magnificent with its hills on the Tibetan Border. We stay there overnight at tent on FB basis. Rest of the time explores the surrounding area.

Day 10: Explore the Lo-Mangthang

Today you may have many choices to explore the surrounding areas. Visit Namgyal Gompa and Tingkhar. Namgyal Gompa situates on a hilltop, which serves as an important monastery of the local community and also as a local court. After visiting Namgyal Gompa continue the tour to Tingkhar, which is a village of around 40 houses, the last main village to the northwest of Lo-Mangthang and stroll back to camp. Or you may have another option to visit the Tall Champa Lakhang “God house” the red Thugchen Gompa, Chyodi Gompa and the Entrance Hal which are the main attraction of this town. Another attraction is the four- story building of the Raja’s palace as well as the surrounding panoramic views of the Himalaya. The interesting place where you may not tired to explore more and more. There are many places to explore and manage your time to explore the places. Every monastery requires the donations and entry fees which is made by your own. Stay at same tent overnight at FB basis.

Day 11: Trek from Lo-Manthang to Yara

We start our trek after breakfast, leave the village and keep by gently ascending going until we reach Day-La which takes about 1 hour. This is the last point where we can see Lo-Manthang. After 3 hours we reach Dhi village then we descend for about 1 hour down where we have lunch break. After lunch we pass the small Khola and make a short steep climb to Yara village (3900m). It takes about 1 and half hour. We can see innumerable caves at the stone walls. We walk 6/7 hours today. Stay overnight at tent on FB basis.

Day 12: Trek from Yara to Luri Cave Monastery

Today, we make short trek to Luri Gompa (3,950m.) 3-4 hours walking. In the morning, we continue through the river route to Luri cave Monastery which takes about 2 hours. There are actually two monasteries. First we visit one which is situated below of Luri Cave monastery. Then a short steep ascent brings us to Luri Cave Monastery which takes us about 30 minutes. This is the oldest and most famous cave monastery in the Mustang region which was constructed in the 15th century. It is situated at an elevation of 4005m. Inside the cave we can see a big Old Chhorten and many images and statues of Protectors and Deities. There is an also highly sacred religious text which is always closed. Stay overnight at tent on FB basis.

Day 13: Trek from Luri Gompa from Ghuma Thanti

We follow the barren valley after crossing 5100meter pass; today we prepare pack lunch due to no appropriate cooking possibilities on the trek. We reach Ghuma Thanti ( 4600m.) 5/6 hours walking. Stay overnight at tent on FB basis.

Day 14: Trek from Ghuma Thanti to Namta Khola

In this day, we start after breakfast, the trail continues with ups and downs. After crossing another 5600meter pass we will reach High Altitude Damodar Kunda. We need to make lunch pack due to no appropriate cooking possibilities in the trail. We continue to Namta Khola after passing Lake. We will reach Namta Khola (4890 m.) 7 hours waling. Stay overnight at tent on FB basis.

Day 15: Trek from Namta Khola to Saribung Base Camp

In this day, walk in the Tibetan plateau gaining high altitude with passing high traverses until reaching Base Camp. We need to make lunch pack due to no appropriate cooking possibilities in the trail. We will get Saribung Base Camp ( 4950 m) 6 hours walking. Stay overnight at tent on FB basis.

Day 16: Acclimatization day

Today is free day for exploring the surrounding hills and acclimatizing to high altitude for the further expedition. Stay overnight at same tent on FB basis.

Day 17: Trek from Base Camp to Nagoru

Morning after breakfast, we will traverse over the Saribung pass ( 6042m.) and trek steep down through the snowy trail and follow the small stream until reaching Nagoru. We need to make lunch pack due to no appropriate cooking possibilities in the trail. We reach ( 4400 m.) 4 hours walking then stay overnight in Tented camp.

Day 18: Trek from Nagoru to Phu Gaon

In the morning after breakfast, we will start our trek from our camp and walk on the Tibetan plateau and barren valley viewing very good view of snowy peaks until reaching Phu Gaon. Now we are in one of the unique Lost/ Hidden Valleys. We can see their cultures, natural diversity, and religion of the ethnic groups like Lama, Gurung and Ghale. The people are depending on subsistence agricultures, animal breeding and seasonal migrations. The very old Buddhist Monastery known as Tashi Lakhang Monastery is listed out of the 108 world’s great Buddhist Monasteries; it is believed to be the last monastery constructed by Karmapa Rinpoche. We have a great view of Himlung Himal and other snow peaks. We reach Phu Gaun ( 4080 m.) 6 hours walking and stay overnight in Tented camp..

Day 19: Trek from Phu Gaon to Meta village

Morning after breakfast, we will walk on the Tibetan plateau and pass the kani/gate end of the village and drop down in the narrow valley and arrive in Kyang where we just see the remnants, particularly the ruined forts of the Khampa settlement (the place which Khampa refugees from Tibet once captured and lived illegally) at places like Jhunam, Chyakhu and Kyang. Then we continue the trail until reaching Meta. We can see the very spectacular view of Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal. We trek 5 hours walking to Meta ( 3560 m.). Stay overnight in Tented camp.

Day 20: Trek from Meta to Koto village

In this day, we start trek steep down for the while and walk through the pine forest passing many streams and picturesque water fall near the Dharmashala. We cross over the many suspension bridges and arrive in Koto after 6 hours we reach Koto 2600m. 6 hours walking. Stay overnight at tent on FB basis.

Day 21: Trek from Koto to Dharapani village

In the morning after breakfast, we will start our trek in the level trail passing small villages until Timang through the Pine forest which takes about 2 hours. We can see short glimpse of Mt. Manaslu and other snow peaks. Then, we drop down to Danque through the knee crunching trail and have a lunch. After lunch, walk on the level and flat trail until reaching Dharapani. It takes about 2 hours. We will reach Dharapani ( 1860 m.) 5 hours walking then stay overnight at tent on FB basis.

Day 22: Trek from Dharapani to Jagat village

Descend down along the Marsyangdi River, first cross by an iron bridge just end of the Dharapani village. Then, continue up stream of Marsyangdi Riveruntil reaching Kotro and cross by a long suspension bridge over the Marsyangdi River. The trail continues right hand through the small battis in the canyon. There is again other suspension bridge, cross over the bridge and drop down to sandy area near the Tal village. After Tal, the trail drop down to the River in rocky trail and climb up the through the dense forest area and again cross by a suspension bridge near the Chyamje where lunch break. Then, the trail continues in the left hand until reaching Jagat Village. We reach Jagat (1300 m.) 5 hours walking then stay overnight at tent on FB basis.

Day 23: Trek from Jagat to Bulbhule village

In the morning after breakfast, we walk down through the rocky trail until reaching Syange where we can see very picturesque water fall about 200m. Then, pass the water fall and continue along the Marsyangdi River until reaching Bulbhule following the road trail for short-cut. It takes about 5 hours to reach and enjoy with last day trekking treat Bulbhule ( 840m.) then stay overnight at tent on FB basis.

Day 24: Drive from Bulbhule to Kathmandu

Morning, after packed all the equipments and upload to the bus and drive 6 hours back to Kathmandu passing beautiful landscapes and picturesque villages. The views of mountains are spectacular during the driving and transfer to Hotel.

Day 25: Leisure day in Kathmandu

This pleasant day you may have full day at leisure and either relaxes at hotel because you may have tired body and sore legs from the trip. This one extra day we use as a reserve day just in case if you need one extra day on trip or some time flight to Jomsom can be cancelled or delay so always good to have this one reserve day after your trip. Stay overnight at same hotel on BB plan.

Day-26: Departure from Kathmandu

A representative of Nord Extreme Himalaya will pick up from your hotel and transfer to the International Airport for your departure flight to your onwards destination. This is the time to say Bye! Bye!!
