Damodar Kunda Trek

Damodar Kunda region is famous for the Hindu religion. Its lake is situated high up in a rain-shadow area of the Himalayas north of the famous Annapurna range  between Kagbeni and Muktinath. At an elevation of 5400 meters it is a cold and windy place, but also very beautiful.

The Yartung Festival (Muktinath) is celebrated all over Mustang. Especially celebrated in Muktinath during August full moon day every year. It is a three day celebration and is celebrated with horse races, drinking and dancing by local Thakali people.

Mustang Tiji Festival Trek 2026

The Tiji Festival in Lo Manthang, Upper Mustang (May 2026), celebrates the triumph of good over evil as Dorje Jono defeats the demon Man Tam Ru. Over three days, the festival features masked dances, traditional costumes, and Buddhist rituals, showcasing Mustang’s unique spiritual and cultural heritage amid stunning desert-Himalayan landscapes. Travelers require Restricted Area Permits and should respect local traditions while experiencing this rare cultural event.

Royal Yartung Festival Trek 2026

The Yartung Festival is an annual horse racing festival held in Lo Manthang, the walled capital of Upper Mustang. It is celebrated in the fourth month of the Tibetan lunar calendar (usually in July or August) and marks an important social and cultural occasion for the Mustang community.

Upper Mustang Trek

In Tibetan, Mustang means “fertile land.” Mustang, or the Kingdom of Lo, is an area located at the North-West of Nepal and it borders Tibet. Mustang was a prohibited area to foreigners up until 1991. Formerly independent, it’s now an integral part of Nepalese territory (since 1951.) Located behind a mountainous barrier, Mustang sits in a rain shadow, unaffected by the monsoons. It has a dry, desert-like, and windy climate. Here one lives with the rhythm of the seasons isolated from modern time. Fantastic canyons with red cliffs, chimneys of fairies, & monasteries; Lo Manthang, the royal capital city strengthened by high Mustang, is an exceptional voyage to the meeting of an authentic culture full of legends and secrets.
